The 2013 IRM field day will focus on forage and grazing, including a pasture walk. Speakers for the event are Jason Tower (SIPAC Superintendent, 2013 President of the Indiana Forage Council) and Dr. W. Mark Hilton (Indiana IRM Coordinator). They will discuss how to increase the number of days to graze livestock to decrease overall feed costs, using co-product feeds in beef rations and limit feeding hay.
The event will be on Wednesday, August 21 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Southern Indiana Purdue Ag. Center (11371 E. Purdue Farm Rd., Dubois, IN 47527). A catered dinner will follow and is $11.50/person and must be paid prior to the event. For registration and to reserve a meal, please call the Purdue Large Animal Hospital during business hours (M-F 8:00 am – 5:00 pm). It is not required to stay for the meal to attend the educational event.
Depending upon the weather, there will be approximately .5 miles of walking during the pasture portion of the event.
