Good Ag. Practices Program for Fruit & Vegetable Growers
Good Agriculture Practices from A to Z, will be offered on Wednesday, April 8th, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in Meeting Room on the lower level of the Washington County Government Building (806 Martinsburg Rd., Salem). This program features sessions on assessing food safety risk, writing a food safety plan, worker health & hygiene, soil amendments, water sources & quality, and post-harvest safety. The target audience for this program are current and prospective fruit and vegetable producers, market gardeners and managers of community gardens that distribute produce to the public. The goal is to present current science-based information on how to reduce risk of contamination during production of fruits and vegetables, as well as provide practical knowledge on planning and documenting food safety practices from planting through marketing. The cost is $15 per person. Lunch is included. The deadline to registration is Monday, April 6.
