Funds Available for Conservation Practices in Washington County
Submitted by: Whitney Sauerheber, Mill Creek-Blue River Watershed Coordinator
The Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) was awarded two Clean Water Indiana (CWI) grants for 2016-2018 to implement conservation practices in Washington County.
Cost-share practices include cover crops, livestock watering facility, heavy use area protection, access roads and pasture renovation/interseeding. Cover crop implementation is funded at $20/acre up to 25 acres per participant. Livestock practice installation is funded up to $1,000 per practice for a participant. Priority will go to new participants in CWI program and is based upon a ranking sheet addressing water quality resource concerns.
Limited funds available, so please inquire as soon as possible.
Call Whitney Sauerheber, MCBR Watershed Coordinator, at 883-3006 ext. 3 or stop by our office at 801 Anson Street, Salem to pick up an application.
